Vesper

Vespers (Mosaica vespera) are, for lack of a better description, the Mosaic holotype. Vespers are descendants of Mimics corrupted over generations from mimicking Devils, so they can vary drastically in appearance from one another, possessing an… abstract anatomy, most of the time. As for colouration, they mostly present as a single hue accented with secondary tones. They are self-aware and can be reasoned with, so direct confrontations can be avoided, although some of them might be more reasonable than others.

Vesper cells have a few unique interactions with light and electricity. When in front of powerful light source, Vespers can use the beam of light as transport, appearing like teleportation, with the range limited by the intensity and direction of the light. A similar principle applies to electrical currents, with Vespers being capable of movement through things such as cables or electric arcs, transporting their entire body through the current, with this method not having a directional restriction. Vespers can even use this to take control, remote or direct, over devices and machinery powered by electricity. Along with this, Vespers have innate access to Vectors.

Vulture

Vultures are a subset of Vespers that ‘possessed’ a dead or dying Soma, as a side-effect of a Soma’s… vacuous state of being. What this means in practice is that the Vesper will take control of the Soma, both Heart and Shell. While a Vulture will mostly resemble its Soma host, the few distinctive characteristics of the Vesper will still be fully visible. The traversal abilities of a Vesper are somewhat hindered, with light traversal being requiring Varium, and electric traversal requiring the Vulture to remain in physical contact with the electricity source at all times, also unable to fully transport their body through the current. There are some upsides, however, such as increased toughness from the Soma’s Shell or, if the Soma was a Vexer, access to multiple Root Vectors, as the Varium-synthesis code is required to take advantage of the Soma’s Root Vector.
