The Black Box is a high-security containment complex located beneath the surface of the Chromatican City, serving as a holding facility for OTHERWHERE-origin entities and objects.

Architecture

The Black Box is a subterranean cylindrical facility, descending vertically. Its only point of access is through a the Spire. Access to the lower levels is facilitated via a rotating bridge lift that descends through the central shaft, enabling logistical transport and personnel movement between containment tiers. The internal architecture is composed entirely of Aberrant Matter.

Containment Functions

The main purpose of the Black Box is the containment of Allokaryota lifeforms and OTHERWHERE constructs. Containment chambers average 49 m², with at least one wall formed of reinforced transparent polymer for observation. Chambers are entirely sealed and soundproofed, with dedicated air filtration systems separate from the city’s main circulation grid. Containment conditions vary based on entity type and threat profile, with custom modifications regularly applied.

Security Protocols

In the event of an internal breach or system failure, the Black Box is equipped with multi-phase lockdown procedures, including total surface isolation and self-sealing flood protocols to terminate all internal processes, including biological occupants, in critical threat scenarios.
