The OTHERWHERE is an anomalous dimension.
Structure
The OTHERWHERE is composed entirely of geometric landmasses and islands. These formations are suspended within an infinite void, across which dunes of red sand naturally accumulate on solid surfaces. Despite the absence of any detectable light source, the OTHERWHERE is uniformly illuminated at a baseline of 1600 lumens.
Gravity within the OTHERWHERE exists in a conceptual rather than conventional form; it behaves as an ideational force, causing all matter to fall in a consistent “downward” direction, despite lacking a singular gravitational origin. The atmosphere in the OTHERWHERE is breathable and chemically analogous to that HERE, breathable by species HERE. All organisms indigenous to this dimension are classified under the Allokaryota domain.
Geography
At the geometric and magnetic core of the OTHERWHERE lies the Luxtree, around which the rest of the dimension orbits or arranges itself. The surrounding landmasses form a vast, generally planar disc of suspended islands. While most islands are located on this plane, some can be found at altitudes significantly above or below it.
These islands vary widely in both size and separation, with the largest exceeding 8,000 km in length. Depending on terrain, some islands are capable of supporting lakes, seas, or oceans.
The Empty Line
Beginning at a radial distance of approximately 20 million km from the Luxtree is the Empty Line. This region is defined by a near-complete absence of matter, including both solid landmasses and air particulates. Functionally, it acts as a barrier that cannot be traversed by non-specialised or non-self-propelled craft. The Empty Line stretches for 700,000 km, beyond which the dimensional conditions appear to reset, giving rise to two distinct regions: the Proximal Side and the Distal Side.
The only known method of traversing the Empty Line is through the occurrence of a naturally forming, temporary gravitational corridor where pressure and force equalise between the Sides. These corridors form habitable bridges that allow matter and vessels to safely traverse the otherwise impassable region.
Interaction with External Matter
The OTHERWHERE exhibits a hostile reaction to the presence of any object not composed of Aberrant Matter. When such foreign matter enters the dimension, it is violently destroyed. This process leaves no physical remnants and produces no detectable release of energy. The rate of destruction is proportional to the size and mass of the intruding object, with smaller objects and organisms being eradicated more rapidly than larger ones.
