The Mimic is a hostile, non-sentient species of Mosaic, originating within the OTHERWHERE.

Morphology

In their natural, unaltered state, Mimics possess a light blue-coloured, crystalline exterior, with a rough, faceted texture. Their default form is vaguely humanoid, tall, gangly, and largely featureless.

Mimicry Capabilities

Mimics derive their name from their innate ability to imitate. This mimicry is instinctual, not cognitive, and is enabled by their specialised neural and bodily architecture. Mimics exhibit highly acute visual and auditory perception, allowing for precise observation of external subjects. They possess a high-capacity recording neural system, capable of storing immense behavioural datasets. Mimics can rapidly switch between recorded mimicry profiles without fatigue or cognitive delay, though their crystalline outer shell does not change in material. They can replicate observed abilities through structural adaptation. Mimics can perfectly reproduce the sounds and behaviours of other organisms.

Intelligence

Mimics do not display signs of higher thought, emotional comprehension, or abstract reasoning. Their mimicry is entirely imitative and pattern-based, relying on instinctual observation and cataloguing rather than analysis or creativity. They are not believed to truly interpret language or have conceptual understanding of what they replicate. Mimics are generally classified as very aggressive entities.
